My “Diet” and My Fitness Pal
I really hesitate to use the word “diet” when discussing how I lose weight. This is the way I should be eating all the time rather than just something I do to lose weight. But, call it what you will. I personally count my calories and make sure the calories I’m eating are healthy. It is a proven fact that creating a caloric deficit will create a weight loss. There are so many diets out there to choose from. I’m not one to tell you to stay away from any of them, because I know that everyone is different. I do however, fully support making healthier food choices and creating a caloric deficit for weight loss. It is a safe, effective and sustainable way to lose those extra pounds. My Fitness Pal Food & Excercise Tracker
My Fitness Pal was a game changer for me! I’m not one to track my food, but a few years ago I got the FREE My Fitness Pal app on my phone. It was the start of my success. I’ve tried numerous times to lose weight with different diets and programs without success because I didn’t know enough about nutrition and exercising and how it all fits together. This app taught me so much about eating right, that I was finally able to get some weight off and keep it off. After using it for a while, I was able to manage my diet without it. Now, if I ever get off track I can go back to the app to see where I’m going wrong.

How it works
When you sign up for My Fitness Pal you will enter personal information such as your current weight, how active you are and your goals. It will set a program for you to follow and all you have to do is put your food and exercise in for the day and it will track it all for you. It is so easy that you can scan bar codes of your food, search for food at restaurants and recipes online so that all the information will automatically load into your diary for you. This app offers nutrition tracking, meal ideas, recipes, goal setting, challenges, advice on eating and exercising and so much more! If you’re ready to start losing weight I highly recommend downloading this app to get you started and keep you on track! I promise, if you follow the guidelines it sets, you won’t regret it!
(There is a premium option as well that offers more specific diet options and goal setting, but the free version has always been good enough for me.)
